XF: Performance
Two key objectives defined the XF´s dynamic flavour – firstly that its driving abilities should match its sporting coupe-like looks and secondly that it should have Jaguar´s unique balance of ride, handling and refinement.  The XF succeeds on all counts and the result is a very special experience.
 
Engine
The XF will be available from launch with a range of four engines, all featuring Jaguar´s proven six-speed automatic transmission with steering wheel-mounted ´paddles´ for manual gear selection (Jaguar Sequential Shift™):

- 2.7-litre V6 twin-turbocharged diesel: 0-60mph in just 7.7 secs (0-100kph in 8.2 secs) and a top speed of 143 mph (229 kph);

- 3.0-litre V6 petrol: 0-60mph in 7.9 secs (0-100kph in 8.3 secs) and a top speed of 148mph (237 kph);

- 4.2 naturally aspirated V8 petrol: 0-60mph in 6.2 secs (0-100kph in 6.5 secs) and a top speed electronically limited to 155mph (250 kph);

- 4.2 supercharged V8 petrol: 0-60mph in 5.1 secs (0-100kph in 5.4 secs) and a top speed electronically limited to 155mph (250 kph).
 
6-speed automatic transmission - Jaguar Sequential Shift™
Every version of the XF comes with Jaguar´s highly acclaimed 6-speed automatic transmission as standard. Evolved like the XF´s V8 engines from Jaguar´s XK and XKR sports cars it uses shift by wire technology. This is a transmission with superb dynamic characteristics, a transmission whose exceptionally rapid fully adaptive shift system responds to both road conditions and the way the car is driven, to give the smoothest gear shifts and optimum performance, all the time. And further underlining the XF´s dynamic character, its Jaguar Sequential Shift™ System gives the driver the option of one-touch manual control via steering-wheel mounted paddles.
 
JaguarDrive Selector™
The most exciting feature of the XF´s transmission control is the all-new JaguarDrive Selector™ – an industry-first rotary shift interface that combines precise, intuitive control with space-saving packaging, to allow maximisation of interior storage options.

Get into an XF and the start button in front of the JaguarDrive Selector™ pulses red, like a heartbeat. Press this button to start the engine and the cast alloy JaguarDrive Selector™ rises softly into the palm of your hand. Simultaneously, the navigation system initialises to its home page and the rotating vents turn from their flush, ´parked´ position to their functional open position.

With the JaguarDrive Selector™, automatic transmission functions are selected simply by turning the control with the fingertips, and with a simple push and turn action to move from Drive to Sport mode. 
JaguarDrive Control™ with Winter and Dynamic Mode
JaguarDrive Control™ offers a choice of driver selectable modes that interact with the DSC system, engine and gearbox, to change the characteristics of engine mapping, transmission shifts and brake interventions depending on driving style and road conditions. On naturally aspirated cars JaguarDrive Control™ has Normal and Winter modes.  The SV8 has in addition Dynamic mode for maximum involvement and a more purposeful driving style.

Suspension
The XF´s body structure is light but exceptionally rigid - with the strength to underpin outstanding safety credentials and the stiffness to carry a suspension whose balance of comfort and control was honed by thousands of miles of intensive development. For the SV8, that includes the adaptive damping strategy of Jaguar´s Computer Active Technology Suspension (CATS).
Servotronic Steering
Servotronic variable ratio power-assisted steering is standard on every version of XF, for reduced parking effort at low speeds and greater precision and feedback at higher speeds - and especially for positive weight to the on-centre feel. Steering effort at manoeuvring speeds is also reduced on diesel models.
